When Stephanie, a fellow photographer, and I first discussed her wedding, she knew she wanted bridal portraits. As we talked about locations, she was dead set on Pilot Mountain, NC and I felt it was a fantastic fit. The days leading up to her session we found the weather may become a problem, but I let her know we could always schedule another day in the event we get rained out. That Saturday morning came, she woke up at 3:45am to start hair and makeup and we were on the mountain at 7am. By this time the fog was so thick we could barely see 10 feet in front of us, but this was not going to slow us down, it was a blessing in disguise.
We walked down the trail to a spot that is a favorite among photographers in the area for its beautiful view and the perfect place for pictures at sunset. We shot a few poses here and moved on to the next location, trying to incorporate the scenery and the fog in all its glory. By this time the fog let up just enough for us to grab some fantastic shots. As we made our way back up the mountain, we went to a spot I like for its tall grass and yellow flowers with just the right amount of light coming in. Once again, we left this area with another handful of great photos she will cherish forever.
Then, as we walked back towards the parking lot, I saw a clearing and it was like the heavens opened up and lead us to this area for what turned out to be my favorite spot of all... just a clearing in the forest. As you can see from the photos it was an epic location given the fog that was already there. We couldn't have asked for more and I am over-the-moon excited I was able to deliver something so special and beautiful to the super cool bride-to-be.
