Your wedding photos are a major part of your wedding and you want them done right! You might think simply calling for a photographer is all you need to do, but there are plenty of ways your wedding photos could go wrong.
Here are some wedding photo mistakes to avoid.
Not Having Poses Finalized
As candid as some wedding photos can seem, there aren’t any ‘random’ poses for the married couple. You should always have the poses finalized beforehand so you don’t have any conflicts or disagreements with your partner about what kind of photos are to be taken. In fact, make a list!
If the poses aren’t finalized, not only is it possible to get into arguments, but you may also not be able to get all the photos you want because you’d spend so much time trying to figure out which ones to take.
It’s always best to be clear with the photographer about what poses you want for your photos so they can prepare accordingly.
Know Your Background
The background for your photos can really make or break the vibe. When you hire a photographer, the first thing you want to do is go over the venue with them so that they can point out which backdrops and focal points would work best for your wedding photos. This way, you’d know the spots with poor lighting and avoid them, and you’d be able to adjust your desired poses accordingly.
Knowing your background also gives you an idea of what the final result will be like, so you can bring along any extra props or items if you need them.
Scheduling
Simply taking photos isn’t all there is to your wedding photography. To get the best photos, you also need to be clear about the times.
Meeting with the photographer is necessary! Talk to them about the event schedule so they know when they’re free to take photos and when you want your alone time with your partner.
By scheduling, you’re also able to make sure that the use of natural light is maximized and any unflattering shadows don’t make it into the picture. Listen to your photographer about what your photo schedule should be like so that you can get the highest quality photos at the end of the event.
Explain What You Want to Look Like
There’s nothing worse than being let down, and it’d be extra upsetting to be let down by your wedding photos. After all, you can’t really get them done again, can you?
Before the event, send your photographer photos of yourself that you like, and some that you don’t like. This way, your photographer understands how you want to appear in your photos and takes them accordingly. When you finally get them after the event, you’ll be a lot more satisfied with how you look in them!
