The Headshot Editing Process

Every headshot session is slightly different. While I do use similar lighting when shooting in the studio, a headshot session outdoor may differ session to session. Regardless of the setting, I make sure I deliver a high-quality headshot that has been scrutinized to make it the best it can be.
Here’s the process from start to finish:
- Upload images using Lightroom
- Simultaneously all images are uploaded to a cloud server to ensure no images are lost in case of fire, act of God, theft, or hard drive crash.
- Each image is closely checked for focus, lighting, and composition.
- Once I have culled the images I begin the color correction process.
- Exposure, shadows, and highlights are adjusted.
- Images are imported to Photoshop for further editing.
- Blemishes, wrinkles, stray hairs, and other imperfections are minimized or removed.
- Sharpening of eye and hair are applied.
- Images are exported to a hard drive and cloud storage. (again, to ensure no images are lost)
- Images are uploaded to the client gallery and sent for viewing.
If you are a photographer, please comment below and tell me what your process is. I’d love to hear from you!
