Some photos have no place in your wedding album. While going through the pictures your NC wedding photographer took, you will see hundreds of candid photos and some you thought looked good while posing. Though they will make you laugh, they won’t make good memories.
Picking photos from the thousands taken can be challenging. The good news is that we have some tips and tricks to make the process straightforward.
Remember: The pickier you are with your photos, the happier you will be with the album. So, get your favorite drink, take a seat, relax, and make some memories.
Making the Selections
“Less is more!” Stick to this mantra when selecting photos. The more you choose, the messier it will get to group them. Here’s what we recommend:
- Detail Shots: 10
Photos should include the dress, décor, suit, paper and florals, the venue, the rings, and anything personal.
- Getting Ready Shots: 3 to 5
- First Look Images: 3 to 5
- Ceremony Images: 5 to 10
When you are walking down the aisle, exchanging rings, and the final shot as you are announced husband and wife.
- Portraits: 5 to 10
- Family Photos: 5
Only immediate family members (no aunts and uncles).
- Cocktail Hour Shots: 3 to 5
- First Dance Shots: 3
- Reception Images: 10
Photos Not to Include in the Album
Guests Having Fun
We are sure you don’t want to see your uncle drunk in the corner or a distant aunt busting a move. These pictures are not even worth considering for a laugh.
Trashing the Dress
Nowadays, it has become a trend to trash the wedding dress by jumping into a pool or doing something that mars the bride’s gown and groom’s suit. If you want to do this, you are most welcome, but adding the pictures to your album doesn’t make sense.
Food
The prawn skewers might taste great, but there’s no need to include a photo of them in the wedding album. Unless your plate looks like something served by Gordon Ramsay, focus only on enjoying the food.
Do Not Try to Please Everyone
Every family has different traditions. Your aunt, uncles, or grandparents might emotionally blackmail you into including them in your wedding album. It’s your big day, and you shouldn’t feel obligated to anyone.
You will probably pick at least 100 to 150 photos for the wedding album. 80 is the perfect number of pictures so start culling to include the ones you love rather than like.
And this is how you make your wedding album! As we said, the process is a bit challenging, but a great way to make the selections is to choose pictures that bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.
